About Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar

Our Story

Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar sits at the corner of County Road 393 and Scenic Highway 30-A in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, directly across from Gulf Place. The name comes from a historic fishing reef just offshore to the south. Local fishermen used it as a landmark to navigate these Gulf waters long before 30A became the destination it is today.

That connection to the water runs through everything we do. We're a seafood and casual dining restaurant built around Gulf-to-table cooking, genuine Southern hospitality, and an open-air, sunset-facing dining room that makes people want to stay for one more drink.

What to Expect

  • Open-air dining across two levels, both with Gulf views
  • Live music daily
  • Fresh Gulf seafood sourced from local fisheries and farms
  • A full bar, gift shop, and a liquor store just behind the restaurant
  • Open daily, 11 AM-10 PM

Award-Winning Coastal Cuisine

The 30A community has voted Shunk Gulley:

  • Best Casual Dining, multiple years running
  • Best Oysters and Best Grouper Sandwich on the Emerald Coast
  • Best Seafood, Best Outdoor Dining, and Best Place to Watch the Game on 30A
  • A Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Award, placing us in the top 10% of restaurants worldwide

Rooted in Conservation

The name isn't just history. Shunk Gulley partners with the South Walton Artificial Reef Association (SWARA) to help rebuild active fisheries in the Gulf, deploying new reef structures that carry the Shunk Gulley name and support a healthier ecosystem. We also support the CBA O.Y.S.T.E.R. Program, which lets guests personalize an oyster shell for a small donation. Those shells later become part of a new reef.
